TWILIGHT

The End of a Saga; suggested by a true story and dedicated to the memory of "Cat".

Pain.

I hurt,
oh, I hurrt!
I must get up
I can't move
why can't I get up?
I must go home but
I can't.......

The battered
and broken
body of the little cat
struggled to rise
even as blood
filled the tiny lungs
suffocating the small animal.
The little bell
tinkled merrily,
unaware,
as inanimate things are,
of the momumental struggle in progress.

And then
there was
silence
and the sound
of
crickets
and the calling
of night birds.

"It was only a cat,"
the driver said as he sped away.

Only a cat.........

One small spirit which feels no more and celebrates life no more and returneth no more to that place of light and warmth called home.

Love your pet enought to keep
it under control at all times.
Love it enough to keep it safely at home!
