Buddy

My name is Buddy

And I lived near Fayetteville, North Carolina with my human mom, Gloria, and fellow canines and felines. Not a youngster any more, I still managed to be my hyperactive self and make every day a celebration. We lived near fields and pastures and I could always find rabbits to chase and adventures in which to become involved....even in my yard. The high point of my day was waiting to greet my mom when she came home from school.

But the day before Thanksgiving I just couldn't wait for my mom.... although I did try. The time had arrived which no animal can foresee but which comes nonetheless. I was so very weary and could not stand so I closed my eyes one final time and crossed that Rainbow Bridge into forever.

When the distant day arrives when my mom crosses the Bridge I will be there, tail beating a tattoo, and joyous of heart in that Place-Without-Pain where age has no relevance and there are no goodbyes.

Love,

Buddy

P.S.

Six years have passed since I had to leave and today I looked up and saw my mom, Gloria Nickerson, coming across the Bridge. When she saw me she smiled and I ran to greet her and so did kitty-girl, Scout, and all the other animals rescued by mom. I know that mom's friends and pets on earth miss her but please don't feel sad because we're together again and always will be. See you later.....
